Who Do We Believe About Home Prices? Posted on August 5th

If you want real divergence of opinion on where home prices are headed, you need only check out two posts, one at CNBC, and the other at, you should know, Realtor.org.



The CNBC piece quotes analysts who predict at least another 33% decline in home prices. Oppenheimer analyst Meredith Whitney, a widely respected banking and investment analyst, has a video interview on the market’s problems.



Then we can read the article at Realtor.org to find that a team of economists are stating these predictions are far overblown. They also criticize the Case-Shiller Index’s shortcomings, and state that real price declines are only in limited markets.
