Tech Notes - Jott a Note & Post Your Blog Posted on November 20th
Pat Kitano over at TransparentRE.com is one of my favorite industry bloggers. His new post titled Is Blogging Dead, is a good one. He gives more detail and tips in his post at Homegain. I agree that it is more difficult to differentiate your real estate blog, as more of them go online every day.
Pat suggests shorter posts with the most recent news you come across, such as breaking news about a new subdivision ruling in your area. He mentions using a cell phone to record ideas as well. This is an opportunity to let technology help you, and it can be free.
Jott.com is a great “voice-to-text” service, and the good news is that the free level is still offering Typepad, LiveJournal and WordPress blogging links. You call into your Jott account, tell it you want to post to WordPress, say your 15 second message, and it’s a blog post in the category of your choice in a few minutes.
For the WordPress techies, there’s a plugin called Advanced Category Excluder that will allow you to set up a separate category for these posts that will not hit your feed. I use it for field notes that may never be a blog post, but they are handy to have in my blog for my use or SEO. This allows you to go into the blog later and edit the text recognition or add more to the short text note you called in. Then you just change the category to place it properly, and it’s back in your feed.
